------------------------------------------------------

We all had a lovely night in Murchison, apart from some gurgly pipes (hotel plumbing, not human, lol).

As usual we were all up early and ready to leave well before our 9am start time. Gloria was really keyed up to get going, even trying to drive the van herself!

A big shoutout to the owner of Mataki Motels, who gave us a fabulous discount. He also used to ride a Matchless, so we took the opportunity to grab a photo with him on Rick's bike.

We also said goodbye to Bill yesterday and Brian today as we left the South Island. It was great riding with some of our Canterbury R.A.C family and having the local road knowledge at hand.

The ride to Picton was just lovely, with all the riders enjoying themselves in the sunny weather. Unfortunately we timed our arrival in Picton with a couple of cruise ships, so there were wall to wall people. We moved on pretty quickly to the ferry. Well, we tried to, but the GPS gave the van wrong directions and we went in circles three times before finally arriving. Sandy and I, aka Two Grannies Catering, made sandwiches in the back of the van for everyone. I think we could have sold them to the waiting cars as well. Gloria tried to make a new friend, but the little dog looked at her and thought 'bugger that!'. Brooke was more to her liking.

And now the fun begins! Who knew Gloria would be able to steer a ferry! The staff on the Interislander were just so accommodating, and I think they had as much fun as we did. They also got to her about our journey and what R.A.C is all about.

She also attempted to help people at the Information Desk, but as she isn't the chatty type that wasn't really the job for her. She attempted to help with the catering side of things, but it is hard to push a trolley when your legs are so short. So she went sight seeing instead.

So, a fairly short day riding today, but a long day travelling. We are now hunkering down in to bed, ready for a ride/drive over the Remutaka Ranges, then off to Napier (via Woodville to collect some baking!).

Yes Gloria, that is a sign, but is not the right one. Where's Gloria tonight?
